Skeptic No More

Christians have a place in Hollywood.

Hear me out. I have proof!

For the past three years, I've been covering politics in our nation's capital. Interviewing presidential candidates and lawmakers have produced some exciting days at the office. New opportunities, however, have placed me in front of some of today's hottest Hollywood stars.

A little about me before I share more about my current gig: I’m a native of upstate New York and I’ve always wanted to be a writer. Poetry was my go to creativity outlet. I didn’t really know I wanted to be a journalist until my junior year of college, when I became fascinated with the drama of American politics. Fast forward to today, I’m a very busy journalist outside of D.C. working as Deputy News Editor for Townhall.com.

But, my first passion is in the arts and pop culture. Hence my excitement when I found out one perk of my job would be a dash of Hollywood reportage.

As a conservative Christian journalist, I was hesitant to ask celebrities and filmmakers questions about their faith. But their openness has pleasantly surprised me.

In my experience so far I’ve realized Hollywood is not completely hellbent on mocking Christians. Yes, we still see some Christian characters being used as fodder for laugh lines. But, more film studios are producing movies friendly to Christian audiences - partly for financial reasons and partly because that's what audiences want. I'm also convinced, however, that these stories are just too good to pass up. Miracles authored by God make for great screenplays. As a result, on both the small and silver screen, Christians are getting airtime. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to cover some of these films, TV shows and books that feature faith themes. I’ll be sharing my experiences and interviews here, as well as upcoming interviews. So, please feel free to submit questions you’d like me to ask!
